CATS FINAL GIANT BINGO EVENT LARGEST YET !!!
Amid concerns and apprehensions among Cats fans and team volunteers, the last summer big Bingo event was held last night,Tues,August 29th at the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium.
The large numbers that have been attending the summertime fundraising Bingos have been a postive boost for the Cats financial stability;
but at the same time all of the financial preparations by the Cats for 'next hockey season' has been ongoing during a very unsettled time for the CWSHL - There continues to be real fears expressed by many fans that the League may not operate at all this upcoming season.
Uncertainty still prevails over the viability of the Gander Flyers franchise after last season's sudden shut down of their second half games... And, the statement by all CWSHL teams at the end of last season, that the League could not continue if there were only three teams is still a big problem! - (the League was "forced" to run with only three teams last year after Corner Brook folded just before the start of last season).
Everyone is awaiting clarification of whether the League will survive. A definitive announcement is expected very soon - with the Hockey NL Fall meeting just two weeks away and the timn now being "well past" for the League set up to be actually in place if there is any hope for Senior A hockey 'off the Avalon' this year!
