CATARACTS IN SUPPORT OF CWSHL DECISION
The CWSHL announced today that given the current financial difficulties being experienced by the Gander Flyers that the decision has been made to not play the remaining games scheduled for the regular season. Instead the league will proceed directly to it's playoff games at the previously scheduled dates. This means the Flyers and the Caribous will play a best-of-three semi final on the weekend of February 24-26. The winner will then face the Cataracts in a best-of-seven final starting March 4th at the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium. The Cataracts organization was a participant in discussions leading to this decision and is in full support of today's announcement. While disappointed in not being able to complete the regular (two more games for the Cataracts) this compromise will allow the playoffs to be completed as scheduled with the full participation of all three teams. We are excited at the prospect of competing in the league finals with a trip to the Herder Memorial Trophy Championship on the line.
